RIVERS STATE GOVERNMENT TO REHABILITATE THE NEURO PSYCHIATIC HOSPITAL, RUMUIGBO IN OBIO/AKPOR LGA.

Rivers State Government is to rehabilitate the Neuro Psychiatric-Hospital, Rumuigbo in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area to meet international standards and the needs of Rivers people and its neighboring states.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara disclosed this during an inspection visit to the hospital directing the Commissioner for Health Dr Adaeze Oreh to commence the immediate process for the total rehabilitation of the hospital that would include a new building for rehabilitation patients and one hundred-bed space.
The Governor who noted that psychiatric issues have taken a national dimension with victims ranging from the rich, poor and children from primary schools due to high level of drug addiction, commended the Commissioner for investing Internally Generated Revenue from the hospital to expand the facility, noting that when fully rehabilitated the hospital will also serve as a training ground for medical students in the state.
Earlier, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Adaeze Oreh who conducted the Governor round the facility said the facility is being expanded to accommodate forty bed space for private patients for drug rehabilitation services.
Dr Oreh noted that the facility would also provide counseling and drug information services as well as laboratory testing to enable patients within the community and the state access the facility.
